A love triangle ... King Joseph (KJ), Jasmine, and Riot ... ... The year is 1966; it is the time when it is a sort of fashion that people study things for years at a stretch and become proficient in them. Moreover, he is the Ph.D (Psychology) scholar King Joseph, the mastermind genius KJ of the Oxford University. What next is to happen in this novel is quite obvious. KJ has worked hard 'night and day' and has become proficient in his topic of thesis, that is, to study the effect of perfumes on human mind so well that has become capable to alter and hence control the emotions of people he wants by exposing them to fragrances; even of the mentors of his esteemed institution named Oxford. But of no use! Alas! He cannot alter the mind of Jasmine whom he has recently fallen in love with. The reason is that she is so fond of jasmine perfume that already remains surrounded by its fragrance all the time. For some time, the story tells us that how he tries to deal with the situation. But further, Riot, his old and estranged friend comes in the scene to make the matters worst for him. Of course, in the Oxford where numerous subjects are studied and taught, occult sciences have never been in the prohibited list. Riot had finished doing his Ph.D in them quite a long time ago. In fact, Riot is an occultist who has spent his entire academic life studying Indian sciences like yoga, transcendental meditation, astral projections, remote viewing, telepathy, psychokinesis, and a lot many others including some such ones too which come under the category of black magic. Even KJ sees that with his slight wish, he can lift people in the air and make them fly. This story was originally written scene by scene to claim the Oscar Award one day for original screenplay but landed here in front of you, just by chance. The name 'A Book Without Chapters' has its meaning explained in the last pages when even despite being bloodthirsty in the rivalry of a love triangle situation, Joseph (KJ) realizes that he, Riot, Jasmine, everyone, just everyone, even the person reading this novel's introduction right now, is just like a book. The main difference however lies in the fact that some books in this world are with chapters and some are without chapters. The concept of simulation of a person as a book is so simple and so strong that the writer expects that the reader shall also begin to see one's own life as a book, just as the actors of this novel begin to do by the end. LET US SEE NOW, WHAT KIND OF BOOK YOU DISCOVER YOURSELF AS ! !!

Juvenal's fifth and final book of Satires consists of three complete poems and one fragment and continues and completes his satirical assessment of the Rome of the early second century AD. The poems treat us to a scandalised exposure of folly and vice and also the voice of sweet reason as the poet advises us how to live our lives - all delivered in the hugely entertaining tones of a great master of the Latin language. There is here laugh-out-loud humour, razor-sharp descriptions of the sights, sounds and smells of ancient Rome and also some of the most moving lines of this extraordinary poet. All four poems promote the value of human life and the need to accept our lives without worshipping the false gods of money, power or superstition. Satires 13 and 14 both deal with our need to use money without being enslaved by it, Satire 15 is an astonishing tour de force description of the cannibalism perpetrated in a vicious war in Egypt, while the final unfinished poem in the collection looks from a worm's-eye view at the advantages enjoyed by men enlisted in the Praetorian guard. The Introduction sets Juvenal in the history of Roman Satire, explores the style of the poems and also asks how far they can be read as in any sense serious, given the ironic pose adopted by the satirist. The text is accompanied by a literal English translation and the commentary (which is keyed to important words in the translation and aims to be accessible to readers with little or no Latin) seeks to explain both the factual background to the poems and also the literary qualities which make this poetry exciting and moving to a modern audience.

Horace’s book of Sermones (also called Satires) was his first published work. Rather than a collection of satirical sideswipes, as the genre might have dictated, the book is a wiry, tight, muscular, interlaced hexameter artwork of enormous originality and as far removed from the legacy of satirical writing he inherited as one can imagine. It is the work of a 29-year-old grappling with issues of personal and poetic identity during one of the most important and pivotal times in European history. Geographically, socially and genetically an outsider, Horace earned himself a seat at Rome’s top creative table, close to the heart of the political engine that was to change Rome forever. His book details a transformational journey from ‘nobody’ to ‘somebody’, and is a simultaneous invention of poet and reinvention of poetic genre. Horace’s Sermones have floated in and out of fashion ever since they first appeared, regularly eclipsed by his Odes. Today, rehabilitated, they find space in the higher levels of the school curriculum. This book provides unique insights and will be of interest to all classicists, as well as students studying core influences on European literature.

The satires explored in this volume are some of the trickiest poems of ancient Rome's trickiest poet. Horace was an ironist, sneaky smart, and prone to hiding things under the surface. His Latin is dense and difficult. The challenges posed by these satires are especially acute because their voices, messages, and stylistic habits are many, and their themes range from the poet's anxieties about the limits of satiric free speech in the first poem to the ridiculous excesses of an outrageously overdone dinner party in the last. For students working at intermediate and advanced levels of Latin, this book makes the satires of Horace's second book of Sermones readable by explaining difficult issues of grammar, syntax, word-choice, genre, period, and style. For scholars who already know these poems well, it offers fresh insights into what satire is, and how these poems communicate as uniquely 'Horatian' expressions of the genre.

Cicero's De Oratore is one of the masterpieces of Latin prose. A literary dialogue in the Greek tradition, it was written in 55 BCE in the midst of political turmoil at Rome, but reports a discussion 'concerning the (ideal) orator' that supposedly took place in 90 BCE, just before an earlier crisis. Cicero features eminent orators and statesmen of the past as participants in this discussion, presenting competing views on many topics. This edition of Book III is the first since 1893 to provide a Latin text and full introduction and commentary in English. It is intended to help advanced students and others interested in Roman literature to comprehend the grammar and appreciate the stylistic nuances of Cicero's Latin, to trace the historical, literary, and theoretical background of the topics addressed, and to interpret Book III in relation to the rest of De Oratore and to Cicero's other works.
