Abishag may not be living the joyful life she once had before her oldest brother took over the household, but she can always escape to the fields for solace. There she can let down her veil, sing to the flowers and the sheep, and bask in the warmth of a sun-drenched sky of purest blue. And there she can meet Yaron, the young man she has loved as long as she can remember. Yet even this will be taken from her when men come searching out a beautiful woman to attend the aged King David. Enclosed within the high palace walls as part of the king's harem, Abishag wonders what happened to the life she had planned to live. As the king's health deteriorates, his sons contend with each other, hoping to succeed him and take possession of what was his--including his beautiful young attendant . . .

In Jesus on Trial, New York Times bestselling author David Limbaugh applies his lifetime of legal experience to a unique new undertaking: making a case for the gospels as hard evidence of the life and work of Jesus Christ. Limbaugh, a practicing attorney and former professor of law, approaches the canonical gospels with the same level of scrutiny he would apply to any legal document and asks all the necessary questions about the story of Jesus told through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. His analysis of the texts becomes profoundly personal as he reflects on his own spiritual and intellectual odyssey from determined skeptic to devout Christian. Ultimately, Limbaugh concludes that the words Christians have treasured for centuries stand up to his exhaustive enquiry—including his examination of historical and religious evidence beyond the gospels—and thereby affirms Christian faith, spirituality, and tradition.

I was born in former Communist Bulgaria, behind the iron curtain. During my childhood years, I lived with my family under Communist oppression. Then during the 1960s, I prayed to God for five years to help me to leave the country. When I was twenty-three, God heard me and opened the door of opportunity. I passed the border like a suitcase and was able to escape on the Orient Express train to Trieste, Italy. After six months, I moved to America, and I lived for eight years in Flushing, New York. Then I got married and moved to Austin, Texas. After the Lord’s help and protection over my life, I still didn’t see His mercy and unconditional love. I simply lived by the rules of this dark world, and I had not heard about the gospel of Lord Jesus Christ. Hosea 4:6. One day I opened my heart and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and I repented of my sins. Romans 10:9. He made me a new creation, and I became a child of the Most High. II Corinthians 5:17. Only Jesus can bring harmony of mind, soul, and body. With God’s Timing Is Perfect, I hope many readers, after reading the nine true stories, will see throughout my life how God showed me only by faith in Jesus, that all things are possible. Nothing is impossible with God, who can move mountains. Matthew 17:20. I wrote my sixth book for the glory of the Lord. In each story, I wrote about God’s mercy, loving kindness, and patience in my life. I had a life full of turmoil and struggles. My marriage is still improving. I wish things would go my way, but God’s will and His timing are the best. God is never late and always on time! His timing is perfect! My legacy is to continue to write and glorify the living God!

"A brilliant inquiry into culture and society over some seven centuries, Mary Evans explores the origins and trajectories of modernity from the Reformation through the Enlightenment to the contemporary period. Her intellectual control of complex ideas and diverse forms of evidence is consistently impressive. Exploring various pessimistic, dystopian strands in European perspectives on modernity by Friedrich Nietzsche, Max Weber and Theodor Adorno, she defends a balanced view of both the negative and positive consequences of modernization. This is historical sociology at its best: judicious, theoretically informed, carefully crafted, grounded in empirical research, and above all intellectually clever. A Short History of Society will prove to be a valuable companion to the student who needs a concise scholarly and sociological overview of modernity." Bryan Turner, National University of Singapore A Short History of Society is a concise account of the emergence of modern western society. It looks at how successive generations have understood and explained the world in which they lived, and examines significant events since the Enlightenment that have led to the development of society as we know it today. The book spans the period 1500 to the present day and discusses the social world in terms of both its politics and its culture. This book is ideal for undergraduate students in the social sciences who are perplexed by the myriad of events and theories with which their courses are concerned, and who need a historical perspective on the changes that shaped the contemporary world.

Today, all over the world, more and more people are able to read and understand the Holy Scriptures in their mother tongue. Bible translators of the 16th century gave their lives to give us the Scriptures in English. They would be delighted with the current emphasis on making the Bible available in the common language of the people. Yet as we read, we do not often think of the amazing story of how the Bible came to us. This booklet offers a brief history of the Old Testament, the New Testament, the first Bibles ever printed, and the development of the English Bible. Here, you can find an answer to the question: "Which is the best Bible version for people today?" along with an exploration of the important criteria for evaluating the various Bible translations that exist today.
