About Us

It is our wish to provide quality products and services to our customers.

In order to provide affordable and convenient books, The Book Exchange will:

Accept both new and used hardback or paperback books. Giving no more than 15% of the retail cover price or fair market value for each used book brought in for store credit.

Offer extremely competitive prices: Discount prices extend to all used books, both hardbacks and paperbacks. See store location for specific pricing, however, customers will typically not pay more than 45% of the book retail cover price for any used book.

Bargain Books: Both locations have an area for books that are too worn for our normal discount prices. These books are offered at a bargain price. These books will be specially marked and we will not accept these marked down books back into our inventory. Credits can not be used on these bargain books.

Provide a Customer Want List: Customers who are looking for specific titles may submit their request. Should the titles come in; the store will contact the customer. Customers are encouraged to return the title to receive credit when they are finished with them as there may be other customers requesting the same titles.

Monthly Specials: There are Monthly drawings at both store locations. The more you come in, the greater your chance at winning.

Anyone being loud, abusive, or displaying any conduct deemed inappropriate will be asked to leave and may not return.

Thieves who are caught will get a free ride to the police station and will be banned from the premises.

Store Policy:

Only books in good to fair condition will be accepted. Books with missing covers, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books and Encyclopedias will be rejected immediately.

Magazines other than craft magazines will be rejected.

The fair market value of the books you bring in is at the discretion of the book store staff. Value is typically based on 15% of the original retail cover price. All decisions are final.

Unless there is a special promotion, books are sold as marked inside the cover, on the inventory sticker or posted throughout the store. Any special promotions and the conditions will be clearly posted throughout the store.

The price marked on the books does not include sales tax. Tax will be added at checkout. Value given on your trade-in books does not include tax.

Customers who bring in books will be given In-Store credit based upon the value of the books. The determined credit will be entered into the Customer's account ~ Credits may only be used towards used book purchases. At no time can credits be used towards the purchase of new books, craft items or any other merchandise in the store other than used books.

Most books purchased from The Book Exchange may be returned to receive credit. Books which will not be accepted will be specially marked as with the Bargain Books.

Customers with store credit can use that credit to reduce the purchase price of any used book purchase by half the total cost. The other half of the total cost must be paid for in cash/ in-state check, MC, Visa or Discover.

There is no limit on how many books a customer brings in, no limit on how much credit a customer can accumulate, and no time limit in which a customer must use that credit.

Customers with credit will always pay no less than half of the total purchase price.

Store Credit is not transferable to another customer or another store.

Customers who do not bring in books and/or have no credit left in their account must pay the total purchase price.

Payment Policy:

The Book Exchange does not purchase used inventory.

This is not an even trade store.

All books brought in are given a used book value based on age, condition and type, or original retail cover price. Determined value will be given to the customer as store credit. The credit may be used to reduce the price of any purchases.

Pre-Orders & Special Orders:

The Book Exchange can Pre-Order any upcoming new release for our customers, upon request, and at no extra charge. If customer is requesting more than 5 copies of one title, The Book Exchange will require at least half of the the total cost of the order to be paid before the order is placed.

The Book Exchange can place Special Orders, upon request, for any book available worldwide (new or used). At least half of the total cost of the order must be paid before the order will be placed (for orders over $25 it must be paid in full prior to the order being placed). In addition to the cost of the book and shipping, The Book Exchange will charge a 5% Service Charge (with a minimum charge of $1.50)

Customers must always pay at least half the purchase price. If the balance in a customer's credit account is less than half of a day's purchase, the customer will pay the difference.

Customers who do not bring in books or who have no credit remaining in their accounts must pay full price marked in the book(s).

Credits may only be used towards the purchase of used books. At no time can credits be used toward the purchase of new books, craft items or any other merchandise in the store.

Example:
A customer brings in $10 worth in books. Customer wishes to purchase $5 worth of books that day. As the day's purchase price is $5, apply $2.50 of the $10 "credit" and customer pays $2.50 cash. The remaining credit balance of $7.50 will be entered into the customer's account.
